Why did you choose the UK to study? Are you pleased with your choice?

I chose to study in the UK because it is not as well known in South Korea, as a place to travel to. For me, it is an adventure to come to the UK to study.

I have studied in different places since I was 14. It was clear to me that moving to the UK to work towards an undergraduate degree would be the best option for me.

I started studying here at INTO in September last year. I am really pleased that I came here!

Do you like living in Exeter? What’s the best part of living here?

I really enjoy living in Exeter. It’s very peaceful and green. The campus is very beautiful too.

When I visited different universities in London all I saw were just buildings. It is also really busy and the atmosphere is quite hectic there. Here it is quieter and relaxing, and you get so much more than just a building.

We are lucky enough to have the Cathedral in Exeter city. It looked wonderful in the snow earlier in the year. I also went to listen to the choir there at Christmas, which was truly amazing.

The other thing I must mention is the weather. It is lovely and warm here in the summer. Even in winter it’s not that cold.

What do you think of the facilities at INTO Exeter?

This building is much bigger than our old one, and it is all new and clean. The technology here is better too which makes it better for us when we are in class.

It is also really colourful inside. When you walk in the wooden ‘egg’ makes it feel warm and welcoming.

What are your teachers like? How are their methods different from home?

Here there is more of a sharing atmosphere than I have experienced before. In Korea, teachers teach, and students learn. That’s all there is to it. Students can ask questions here and it’s encouraged and accepted. I think that the way we learn here is the most effective way possible.

What do you like to do to socialise?

At the beginning of term I went on a trip to Bath. I loved the city and I also met lots of people, as we were all new to living in the UK. I am still friends with people I met on that trip, so I am pleased that I went on it.

There is a Korean church in Exeter and I am a member. I attend every Sunday and have many friends there. We meet up for lunch, go shopping and sometimes we go to the gym together.

What did you do in your first week at INTO? What did you find most useful?

Welcome Week was really useful. Having the option to sign up to the societies’ right at the beginning was great. I signed up for the Tennis Society and also Globe. Being a member of Globe means that we meet and discuss living in the UK. I also learned about the Bank Holidays you have here. I think the best time to join groups and societies is at the beginning because you soon get busy with study.

Why did you choose INTO? Are you pleased you came here?

I chose INTO because it is a good place to start in order to get into the University of Exeter. I researched universities by myself in Malaysia and also in Korea.

I initially contacted the Korean representative through www.intohigher.com and we arranged a meeting in his office in Seoul. He gave me lots of advice about different universities and more information about INTO.

I am pleased with my INTO experience and would happily recommend it.

INTO is the easiest way to prepare for university study, and to make sure you get in to the University of Exeter.
